Therapy Intensives: When You're Ready for More Than Weekly Therapy
If you've been in therapy for weeks, months, or even years and still feel like you're circling the same patterns, you're not alone. Weekly therapy can be incredibly healing and sometimes an hour a week simply isn't enough time to get beneath what's keeping you stuck or feeling disconnected.
That's where a therapy intensive can be different.
At Wild Strength Therapy, I offer therapy intensives for people who are ready to step away from the pace of everyday life and fully invest in their healing. Instead of spreading the work out over months or even years we create dedicated space to dive deeply into the root of what's been holding you back.
Traditional therapy offers consistency, support, and steady progress. I believe in that work. And sometimes, there comes a point where you're ready for something more focused. Maybe you're exhausted from managing anxiety, overwhelmed by trauma responses, or frustrated that you understand why you struggle but still can't seem to create lasting change. A therapy intensive creates the time and space for your nervous system to settle enough that we can move beyond insight and into healing.
draw from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as parts work, and other evidence-based approaches, including somatic and attachment-focused therapy. Rather than rushing through difficult experiences because the session is ending, we have the gift of time. We can slow down, stay curious, and follow the places that need attention without feeling like we have to stop just as something important is unfolding.
What the Intensive Experience Feels Like
Before we ever meet for your intensive, we'll spend time preparing. We begin with a pre-intensive consultation where I'll get to know your story, understand your goals, and identify what you'd most like to work on. You'll also receive a workbook designed to help you reflect, organize your thoughts, and begin preparing emotionally for the work ahead.
When intensive day arrives, everything is designed to help you focus on one thing: your healing.
Unlike weekly therapy, there's no pressure to fit everything into fifty minutes. We have the time to notice what your mind, body, and emotions are communicating. We can pause when something feels significant, process memories more completely, reconnect with younger parts of yourself, and gently work through patterns that have been influencing your life for years.
Many clients describe the experience as feeling both deeply challenging and deeply relieving. Instead of leaving a session feeling like you just opened something up before having to return to work or family responsibilities, there's space to stay with the process until you feel more grounded. We take breaks when needed, check in with your nervous system throughout the day, and move at a pace that honors both your courage and your capacity.
The goal isn't to force healing or overwhelm your system. It's to create enough uninterrupted space for meaningful healing to happen.
After the intensive, we meet again for a follow-up integration session. This is where we make sense of what emerged, strengthen the changes you've begun experiencing, and talk about how to carry your healing into everyday life. Together, we'll decide what support makes the most sense moving forward. For some people, that's returning to weekly therapy. Others benefit from another intensive down the road. Every plan is tailored to your unique needs and goals.
Healing doesn't have to take forever. Sometimes what you've needed all along isn't more time, it's more intentional space.
If you're curious whether a therapy intensive might be the right fit for you, I'd love to help you explore what that could look.
