Frequently asked questions

  • I work with teens to older adults (15-65) from all walks of life—regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, or background. My ideal client is someone ready to lean in, get curious, and stay engaged in their healing journey.

  • Nothing specific. I just ask for you to show up as you are. My role is not to change or control you, but to help you better understand your challenges in order to find the resources that are going to best help you achieve your mental health goals.

  • Great question! Three words that clients often describe Alicia are: relatable, empathetic and genuine. Check out her clients testimonials (located at the bottom of this page), as well as her Google Business page with lots of client and peer reviews!

  • All credit cards, debit cards, FSA and HSA cards are accepted. Cash and Venmo (@Wildstrengththerapy) are also an acceptable form of payment.

  • At this time, Wild Strength Therapy accepts Aetna and United Healthcare insurance plans with limited availability for insurance-based sessions. Insurance billing is processed through a secure third-party billing system. For all other insurance providers, Alicia is considered an out-of-network (OON) provider, and Medicaid is not accepted.

Choosing to remain out of network with most insurance companies allows for a more personalized and privacy-focused therapy experience. Insurance providers typically require a mental health diagnosis in order to approve coverage, and that diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record. While some clients are comfortable using their insurance benefits, others prefer greater confidentiality and flexibility in their care.

For clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement, Wild Strength Therapy can provide a monthly Superbill that may be submitted directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your individual plan and benefits.

  • A superbill is a document made for insurance companies that details the services a therapist or health care provider performed for a client. People often underestimate how much of their superbills are eligible for reimbursement. For more information go to: https://www.thesuperbill.com/blog/what-is-a-superbill or check out my blog on superbills here.

  • Yes, I have a 24 hour cancellation and/or reschedule policy. I allow for one free cancellation within the allotted 24 hours, as I know unpredictable life events happen. After the one time freebie, all cancellations or reschedules within 24 hours of the session will be billed the full session fee.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy approach designed to help people heal from trauma, anxiety, distressing memories, and other overwhelming life experiences. EMDR therapy helps the brain process and reframe difficult experiences so they feel less emotionally intense and disruptive over time.

Through guided techniques and bilateral stimulation, clients can begin to heal, build resilience, and move forward with greater clarity, safety, and emotional balance.

At Wild Strength Therapy, Alicia views EMDR therapy in two important phases. Phase 1 focuses on building awareness, safety, and stability by helping clients better understand their nervous system, develop regulation tools and coping strategies, and recognize how trauma is stored and expressed within the body.

Phase 2 involves the reprocessing of distressing memories and experiences. Once a strong foundation has been established, clients can begin working through unresolved trauma in a supportive and structured way, allowing for deeper healing and lasting change.

  • “IFS-informed” means therapy is influenced by Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach that views the mind as made up of different “parts” or inner experiences. Rather than seeing these parts as problems, IFS helps clients understand them with curiosity and compassion. This approach can support healing from trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and negative self-beliefs by helping clients build a stronger attachment to themselves and their emotions, which in turn helps clients to feel more connected to other people.

While Alicia is not formally IFS certified, she has years of experience integrating an IFS-informed approach into her work with clients. Through this lens, she helps clients better understand the different parts of themselves that may hold pain, protection, fear, shame, or past trauma. Rather than judging these internal experiences, Alicia supports clients in approaching them with curiosity, compassion, and greater self-awareness.

  • A therapy intensive is an extended therapy session or series of sessions designed to help clients make deeper, more focused progress in a shorter amount of time. Unlike traditional weekly therapy, intensives allow for longer sessions that create space to fully explore and process trauma, anxiety, relationship patterns, life transitions, or other ongoing challenges without feeling rushed.

At Wild Strength Therapy, therapy intensives are tailored to each client’s unique goals and needs. Intensives may incorporate EMDR therapy, nervous system regulation, and IFS-informed approaches to support deeper healing and lasting change. Many clients find intensives especially helpful when they feel “stuck” in traditional therapy, want focused support around a specific issue, or are looking to accelerate their healing process in a safe and intentional way.

Therapy intensives are available both in-person in Lone Tree, Colorado, and online for clients throughout Colorado.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. • View of the Grand Canyon with layered rock formations, trees, and a partly cloudy sky.

I have a 15 year old son who I struggle to connect with. I found Alicia’s experience with school counseling and my own parenting needs met with compassion, knowledge, and understanding through her private practice. I would highly recommend her to work with parents, as much as I would trust her to work with my son.

    C, 45, male

  • Night sky over a lake with the Milky Way galaxy and visible star trails, surrounded by trees and a shoreline.

Alicia allows me to be who I am. She accepts and applauds me, without judgement, for who I am. She is fun and friendly and holds me accountable. She allows me to go where I need to during our sessions, and will also provide suggestions if I need to see or move in a different direction. She has truly made me come to believe that it’s never too late to get to know yourself better.

I highly recommend Alicia! Alicia is incredibly understanding and intuitive. I have worked with several therapists and I have stayed with her because of how safe of a space she provides. I talk about things with her I have never talked to with anyone else because of how inviting Alicia makes it. She never makes me feel obligated to talk, and yet, I find myself opening up to her because of how safe it feels. Alicia is creative in how she helps conceptualize my problems and would highly recommend her (and already have) to friends and family.

  • A mountain range with snow-capped peaks and rolling hills in the foreground, with yellow shrubbery covering the lower landscape.

Before coming to Alicia I often felt alone and crazy. Alicia has been so honest with her own mental health issues and has made me feel seen and heard more than any other therapist I’ve been to. She is relatable, friendly, and without her, I would not be coping as well as I am with life.

  • Sunset over silhouette of mountain range with orange sky

Without Alicia I would be in a negative space constantly. Alicia makes it easy to talk about anything I’m struggling with. She is knowledgeable, she’s resourceful, and provides helpful feedback. I have learned so many new coping skills, and find them easy enough to use to get through my day.

    - A, 42, female

  • Snow-capped mountain peaks at dusk or dawn with clear sky and a few stars visible.

Alicia is very empathetic and does a fantastic job mirroring emotion. She gives me the space to sit with whatever emotion I’m in without trying to change it. She’s like a long, lost friend that I can just pick right back up with every time we meet. She’s truly a rockstar therapist!

    - S, 30, male

  • A mountain range at sunset with dark clouds overhead, snow-capped peaks in the background, and reddish-lit ridges in the foreground.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started counseling. Alicia has helped teach me breathing skills and we do more than just talk. We color, play games, and sometimes just listen to music if I don't feel like talking.

    -N, 14, female

  • Snow-capped mountains at sunset with a colorful sky in shades of pink, orange, and purple.

Alicia is client-centered. She gives me the space to work out my own problems, but provides different strategies and methodologies (IFS, EMDR) to help me find the best way through. She has a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate that she comes to every session with empathy and an openness to help.

    - C, 23, male

  • View of a deep canyon with tall red and orange rock cliffs on the sides, green vegetation at the bottom, and a partly cloudy sky overhead.

Alicia is very wise and knowledgeable. She doesn’t judge me or others. She laughs at my overly-sarcastic humor and makes me feel heard. Alicia always tells me, not necessarily what I want to hear, but what I need to hear. When I talk to her it feels like I’m talking to a friend.

    -T, 18, non-binary

  • A scenic view of Yosemite National Park with towering granite cliffs, snow-capped mountains, a waterfall, and a colorful forest below under a partly cloudy sky.

I have nothing but great things to say about Alicia. She’s a fantastic counselor and helped me with some things I didn’t think I’d be able to get through. She’s authentic, has great reasoning skills, and our sessions helped me become more confident in my understanding of self and my own challenges.

    - J, 27, male

  • Night sky filled with stars and the Milky Way galaxy above dark mountain silhouettes.

I have been with Alicia since 2022. She is incredible. She has worked with me specifically regarding being a single mom, career challenges, relationship conflicts, childhood wounds, and literally anything I bring to her office that week. She actively listens and helps walk you through the emotions/feelings/thoughts one might be experiencing and challenges you to dig a bit deeper. Alicia and I have worked together through EMDR therapy, Internal Family therapy, meditation, and talk therapy when I REALLY need to work through a specific situation. She brings experience, empathy, compassion, and insight every single time. Highly recommend Alicia if you have ever struggled in the past to connect to a therapist.
